Something about Me

I have a background as a Registered Nurse, my specialty area being Phee, AndyCommunity Mental Health practice.

I have  extensive experience and skills  in working with people experiencing emotional and mental health problems.

I’ve been teaching mindfulness in both the NHS and privately for several years.

In particular I teach to NHS staff groups in various London trusts and to people who have experienced depression, anxiety and stress.

I have also  facilitated groups for people with long term medical conditions and I run course regularly for open groups in the Stoke Newington and Hackney and Highbury areas – that explains N16!

I have worked in partnership with Mind, the mental health charity, in delivering mindfulness groups for people  experiencing distressing voices and paranoia and have recently been delivering courses to staff and residents of  homelessness organisations.

Of course, no formal qualifications are necessary for an individual to become a skilled mindfulness practitioner. However, in order to pass those skills on to others, some formal training is usually necessary. So, to support my teaching practice I have completed the Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy teacher training course at the Oxford Mindfulness Centre and Oxleas NHS Trust. And I have and have furthered my teacher training with the Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice at Bangor University.

I have also trained in delivering Mindfulness Based Addiction Recovery courses and in .b Foundations, set up to teach teachers and educators mindfulness skills that they can pass on to students.

I have regular teaching supervision from a member of the teaching team at the Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice at Bangor University and subscribes to the UK Good Practice Guidelines for Mindfulness Teachers.

I also study and teach ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) to people in recovery from mental health problems and am supervised in this work by one of the UK’s leading ACT therapists.

Over the years I have found that  teaching has deepened and enlivened my personal practice and has further committed me to supporting others in strengthening the personal resources that improve psychological flexibility and nourish wellbeing.
